Twitching Eye Anyone?
Okay, I know this has nothing to do with business, but all morning I've had a twitching right eyelid. It was driving me crazy, especially during that extra long subway ride I just endured. Anyways, as testament to the wonders of the internet -- which allows you to pull and cull information in a split second -- I was able to figure out what the heck was wrong (or wasn't) with me. Job related stress and homesickness have also been ailing me as of late, but a lack of sleep seems to be the overriding problemo, here.Twitching muscle in the eyelid is extremely common. Its medical name is myokymia. I have personally seen many, many patients with this in my surgery over the years, and in the vast majority of cases it is a completely benign condition that is self- limiting and disappears within a few weeks at most. It is often caused by tiredness and lack of sleep and goes away as mysteriously as it comes. However, sometimes it can be abnormally persistent and extremely rarely it may be associated with more serious nervous conditions such as multiple sclerosis, although I would emphasize this is highly unusual.I guess this is my body's cruel way of laying April Fools on me...
