Blogging for Dollars

Maoxian.com just reminded us that
Weblogs, Inc. is apparently taking in around $600 a day in AdSense revenue. That sounds like a lot until you realize that they have 75 blogs running, meaning their average blog is taking in a whopping $8 a day in AdSense revenue.
He's right--that's not much. Eight dollars will barely get my Florsheims polished here in NYC. However, blogging is here to stay and Weblogs, Inc finds itself in a good position--they are one of the names most people associate with blogs. Calcanis and Nick Denton of course. The first mover advantage tactic seems to have infected even blogging. Nevertheless, the form is highly penetrable with its minimalist barrier to entry. As I told a client today, echoing Andy Warhol's famous dictum, "with the advent of the internet, everyone is famous."
